Data-centre energy strategy · EU label readiness

Prepare for the EU label. Make better power decisions.

Evaluate power access, energy configuration and reporting readiness together. xIntegra is inviting selected data centre developers, operators and investors to pilot software that models technical options and their economic effects for the customer’s decision process.

A defined paid software pilot, with scope and pricing agreed before work begins.

Data-Centre Power & Label Readiness

Five questions before you commit capital.

  • Which location offers a credible route to power?
  • Is an earlier flexible connection commercially preferable to waiting for firm capacity?
  • How should BESS, generation and operational flexibility work together?
  • Which energy, water and resilience improvements justify their cost?
  • What evidence is missing for reporting and future EU-label readiness?

What you receive

A comparison you can act on.

The software pilot generates a comparison of your agreed options, their modelled costs and operating implications, available data and gaps that could change the results.

  • Power and site options with dependencies.
  • BESS and flexibility scenarios.
  • Facility-data and label-readiness gaps.
  • Structured report outputs with assumptions and unresolved inputs.

Your appointed technical advisers supply and validate engineering inputs. xIntegra supports software configuration, data integration and interpretation of the model outputs.

What the EU wants, in simple terms

Make energy and water performance comparable.

The new EU label is intended to make data centre efficiency easier to understand. Its adopted design includes separate grades based on energy efficiency and water intensity. Consistent, traceable facility data is the starting point.

The commercial question goes further: which improvements reduce cost or risk, and are they worth the investment?

Understand the rules and timeline →

PUE: energy efficiency

Total facility energy divided by IT energy. It shows the energy used by cooling, power distribution and supporting systems relative to computing.

WUE: water intensity

Water use relative to IT energy. It makes the water implications of operation visible.

Improving one indicator can involve a trade-off in the other. The label alone does not measure resilience or investment value.

One connected commercial journey

Start with one decision. Keep its evidence useful.

01 · Initial assessment

Establish the baseline.

Agree one facility or site decision. Review connection information, load requirements, facility data and material gaps. Configure the software with alternatives validated by your technical specialists.

02 · Analysis outputs pack

Compare the choices.

Assess capital, operating effects and sensitivities. Export the option comparisons, their conditions and supporting data for your investment review and reporting.

03 · Portfolio monitoring

Track what changes.

Where recurring needs justify it, agree updates to assumptions, risks and reporting. Compare actual performance with expectations when operating data is available.

The pilot establishes the scope and usefulness of the analysis. Ongoing monitoring is a separately agreed service, with assets, update frequency and responsibilities defined.

Connect earlier, or wait for firm capacity?

The question

A developer wants to compare a potentially earlier, flexible connection with waiting for firm capacity at a candidate site.

The information

Documented grid-operator terms, phased IT demand, workload flexibility, BESS costs, cooling and water design, and required continuity of service.

The alternatives

Wait for firm capacity; or use a flexible connection with phased commissioning, BESS and an agreed operating envelope.

The decision produced

A comparison of timing assumptions, investment, curtailment exposure and operating costs, plus conditions to resolve before commitment and a label-readiness data plan.

Connection availability and restrictions must be confirmed with the grid operator. For a new build, design estimates support scenarios; they do not establish an operating label grade.

The analytical foundation

The facility and the grid belong in the same picture.

SSI-ENN connects a digital twin of the electricity grid with climate, socioeconomic and resilience factors. The software pilot would combine that context with your facility data and technically validated inputs.

Public SSI reports demonstrate the approach. The configured software uses private project data and tailored scenarios, with implementation support and data updates within the agreed scope.

Start with the evidence you have

A short readiness checklist.

See which power, facility and reporting information would help scope an assessment. Use it with your operations, development or engineering team.
